FRESNO COUNTY – At a central valley health clinic today, Governor Gavin Newsom will hold a press conference highlighting the state’s efforts to improve health care access and affordability for Californians, and the first-in-the-nation measures to encourage state employees and health care workers to get vaccinated amid the growing threat of the Delta variant.
The Governor yesterday announced that California is requiring all state workers and workers in health care and high-risk congregate settings to either show proof of full vaccination or be tested at least once per week, and encouraging local government and businesses to adopt a similar protocol.
California has put more shots in arms than any other state – administering over 44 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine with 75 percent of those eligible having received at least one dose – and the state continues its multi-pronged strategy to reach communities with low vaccination rates.
