Frequently Asked Questions
1) How many days/hours can I intern per week?
You and your supervisor will determine the hours and days that are best for you and the office of your internship. Keep in mind that if you are interning for college credit, most programs require you to intern a minimum number of hours per week to be eligible for the credits. Most interns work 16 hours per week.
2) Can I request to work in a specific area in the Governorís office?
There are several areas within the Governorís office that need interns. They are Press, Appointments, Legislative Affairs and Constituent Affairs. Interns are encouraged to indicate on the application a specific area where they would like to be placed. Of course, placements are at the discretion of the Intern Coordinator.
3) What kind of work will I be doing as an intern?
Each office has different needs and requirements; therefore, it will be at the discretion of the individual office. Some of the responsibilities may include: answering phones; taking messages; gathering information on groups or organizations; general clerical duties, and assisting in the planning of special events. Again, the Intern Coordinator will try to place you in an office that might be most beneficial to your area of study.
4) If I apply for an internship and am not selected, can I re-apply for the next quarter/semester?
If you are not selected for the semester in which you are applying, you are welcome to apply again for the following semester.
