Our state's strength lies in the diversity and talent of its people, and I am honored to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of California's Asian Pacific Islander residents. They form one of the strongest pillars on which our state was built and on which it continues to prosper today.
Whether in government or private enterprise, in athletics,
academics or the arts, Americans of Asian Pacific Islander descent are leaders
who excel in their fields and push our state to new heights. California's
more than two dozen Asian Pacific Islander ethnic groups have also brought
countless traditions and customs that have forever enhanced our culture and way
of life.
During this month, I encourage Californians to take
part in some of the many community activities that celebrate Asian Pacific
Islander heritage and its profound influence on our state and nation. I also extend my gratitude on behalf of all
Californians to our state's Asians Pacific Islander Americans for their
tremendous actions to strengthen our Golden
State by honoring their
heritage.
NOW,
THEREFORE, I, ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER, Governor of the State of California, do hereby proclaim May 2008, as
"Asian Pacific Islander American Heritage Month."

IN WITNESS
WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand
and caused the Great Seal of the State of California to be affixed this 9th day
of May 2008.
ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER
Governor of California
