"On behalf of all Californians, I congratulate the students from Santa Monica High School for winning this year's National Science Bowl competition.  Their accomplishment highlights our state's commitment to science education, and I commend these students for their hard work and dedication."

Santa Monica was one of 67 high schools competing for this year's title.  The U.S. DOE National Science Bowl is a nationwide academic competition that tests students' knowledge in all areas of science.  Each high school enters a team of four students, one alternate and a teacher who serves as an advisor and coach.  For more information please visit the U.S. DOE National Science Bowl's website at: www.scied.science.doe.gov
