Gov. Schwarzenegger Issues Statement on Death of Santa Barbara County District Attorney Investigator Laura Cleaves
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger released the following statement regarding the death of Santa Barbara County District Attorney Investigator Laura Cleaves:
"Maria and I were deeply saddened to learn of the loss of Laura Cleaves, an outstanding public servant who dedicated her life to protecting California's communities. Laura had a distinguished career in law enforcement and her leadership will be deeply missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Laura's family and friends during this difficult time."
Cleaves, 53, died May 1 as the result of a traffic accident that occurred while she was on duty in Santa Barbara County. She is survived by her husband and two daughters.
In honor of Investigator Cleaves, Capitol flags will be flown at half-staff.
