President and CEO Lloyd Dean:
Hi, this is Catholic Healthcare West President and CEO Lloyd Dean, filling in for Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger with this week’s California Report.
As California’s largest provider of hospital services, Catholic Healthcare West applauds the Governor’s vision and leadership on health care reform in our state.
6.7 million Californians do not have health insurance and hospitals across the state are struggling with the rising costs of providing care to the uninsured.
We are seeing billions of dollars in unpaid bills and emergency rooms are closing because of the tremendous financial pressures.
I know we can do better as a society.
The health care system is broken and unsustainable and along with the California Hospital Association we want to be part of the solution.
The Governor’s plan for comprehensive health care reform would insure everyone, reduces costs, increases accountability, and rewards wellness and prevention, and improves the quality of care.
It would give more Californians access to the health care they need and deserve, and help stabilize hospital funding so they can stay in the business of providing vital services to their communities.
We stand ready to make our contribution because Governor Schwarzenegger understands that no one group can afford to bear the entire financial burden.
Hospitals, doctors, insurers, businesses, individuals and government must share the responsibility, so we can all benefit.
Catholic Healthcare West views access to health care as a fundamental human right and we have a unique opportunity to enact meaningful reforms.
Health care has taken center stage at the Capitol and the Governor has called a special legislative session to get this done now. I’m proud to support our state leaders as they work to translate this momentum into results that will improve health and well-being for all Californians.

Más californianos tendrían acceso a la cobertura médica que necesitan y merecen, y ayudaría a estabilizar el financiamiento para que los hospitales puedan mantenerse en función de proveer los servicios vitales a sus comunidades.
Estamos listos para contribuir, porque el Gobernador Schwarzenegger comprende que ningún segmento específico, debe soportar la carga financiera solo.
