Statement by Gov. Schwarzenegger Regarding GE Energy and Calpine Announcement of Intention to Build Power Plant
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today released the following statement regarding GE Energy and Calpine announcement of their intention to build a 775-Megawatt Power Plant in Southern California:
“Today’s announcement is fantastic news for California. The plant will be a large source of new power generation for Southern California and the plant’s planned use of state-of-the-art turbine technology will produce more power with lower emissions than any power plant in its class. The decision by GE and Calpine to invest these resources in California is an affirmation of the policies we have worked to implement over the last year.”
According to a statement issued today by Calpine/GE, the decision to build a power plant in CA was based on the Governor’s clear direction on energy policy. GE’s decision to work with Calpine and invest more than a half billion dollars in the Inland Empire Energy Center is proof of the progress that has occurred under the Schwarzenegger Administration and is a tribute to California’s improving business climate.
