Governor Schwarzenegger Appoints Two to San Francisco County Superior Court

Schwarzenegger today announced the appointments of Ronald E. Albers and Richard
B. Ulmer Jr. to judgeships in the San Francisco County Superior Court.
Albers, 60, of
San Francisco, has served as a commissioner for the San Francisco County
Superior Court since 2002. From 1979 to 2001, he served as a trial attorney
then head attorney for the San Francisco County Public Defender's Office and,
from 1978 to 1979, Albers was a trial attorney with Legal Services for Children.
From 1977 to 1978, he was the director for the Juvenile Justice Research
Project. He was a sole practitioner in 1974. Albers earned a Juris Doctorate
degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School and a Bachelor of Arts
degree from Cornell College. He fills the vacancy created by the conversion of
a court commissioner position on January 26, 2008. Albers is a Democrat.
Ulmer, 55, of
Hillsborough, has served as a partner for Latham & Watkins since 1995. He
previously was an associate for McCutchen, Doyle, Brown & Enerson from 1986
to 1995. Ulmer earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Stanford Law School and a
Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He fills
the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Philip J. Moscone. Ulmer is a
Republican.
The compensation
for these positions is $178,789.
