Governor Schwarzenegger:
Hi, this is Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger with another California
Report.
Christmas is just a few days away and our beautiful state tree at
the Capitol is absolutely glowing. It is wonderful with 9,500 lights powered by
a clean hydrogen fuel cell.
So it’s green in two ways, may I remind you.
It is called the Tree of Heroes and it honors some of our bravest
and most amazing Californians.
Many of them joined us at our Christmas tree lighting ceremony on December
9.
They included our courageous military men and women many of whom
are sacrificing their own holidays to give us peace and to keep us safe.
We also celebrated our California firefighters who this year
fought as many as 2,000 fires that were burning at the same time.
And may I remind you we have the most courageous, most selfless
and the best trained firefighters in the world.
We recognized our Medal of Valor recipients who risked their own
lives to save strangers from fire, drowning and attack.
And we brought together Californians with developmental
disabilities along with the business leaders who are giving them jobs and a
bright future.
These heroes are the people with a unique spirit, the kind of
giving spirit that we celebrate in the holiday season.
And on Thursday, we also celebrated Chanukah and we celebrated the
Menorah lighting on the West Steps of the Capitol.
It is always such a wonderful moment and a reminder to open our
hearts and experience the joy that is all around us.
In these times of stress and distress, when the weight of our
economy presses on our faith and patience we still have so much to be thankful
for in California.
We live in the most beautiful state in the union, in the greatest
country on Earth.
And it is still the land of opportunity where dreams come true.
So this holiday season let’s rededicate ourselves to being part of
the good that is all around us. To being involved.
Because together we can make the year ahead a better one.
Let’s all commit in the next few days to doing something for
others.
Reach out to those who are lonely. Make time for friends. Spend
time with loved ones.
And make some Christmas wishes. Maria and I want to share ours.
For our nation, recovery. For our state, health and continued
beauty. For each of you, the greatest Christmas gift of all: family, friends,
laughter and joy.
Maria and I wish you the merriest of Christmases and a Happy
Chanukah.

Quedan pocos días para la navidad y nuestro bello
árbol navideño en el capitolio está absolutamente brillante, es maravilloso,

Y el jueves también celebramos Hanucá y celebramos la
iluminación de la Menoráh de Hanucá, en frente del Capitolio.
Siempre es un momento maravilloso y un aviso de abrir
nuestros corazones y experimentar la felicidad que se encuentra al rededor de
todos nosotros.
A pesar de estos tiempos de estrés y aflijo, cuando el
peso de la economía presiona nuestra confianza y paciencia, todavía tenemos
mucho por lo que dar gracias en California.
Vivimos en el estado más bello del país y en el país
más grandioso del mundo.
Todavía continúa siendo la tierra de oportunidades,
