Gov. Schwarzenegger Issues Statement on Death of Imperial County Probation Officer
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today released the following statement regarding the death of Imperial County Probation Officer, Irene Rios, of Holtville:
"Maria and I were deeply saddened to learn of the death
of Imperial County Probation Officer Irene Rios. Irene dedicated her life to
protecting the safety of others and we will forever honor her courage and
sacrifice. Our thoughts and prayers are with Irene's family and friends during
this difficult time."
Rios, 28, died August 13 as a result of injuries
sustained during a car crash while on duty. Rios is survived by her parents and
three siblings.
In honor of Probation Officer Rios, Capitol flags will
be flown at half-staff.
