Gov. Schwarzenegger Issues Statement on DMHC Action to Reinstate Health Care Coverage to Many Californians
Today Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger issued the following statement after his Administration's Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) announced that health care coverage would be reinstated for many Californians after an investigation into rescission practices by health care insurers:
"I applaud the Department of Managed Health Care for reaching yet another groundbreaking agreement that will reinstate coverage to 450 Blue Shield of California consumers whose health care coverage had been rescinded. As I’ve said before, patients should not live in fear of unfairly losing their health care coverage when they need it most - and I look forward to working the Legislature to ensure this egregious practice is put to an end. With Blue Shield’s action today, all but one of California’s major health insurers has agreed to do the right thing."
